A futuristic village ReGen with an area of 20 hectares will be created in Almere, that is about half an hour ride from Amsterdam.
Infrastructure and incentive bonuses for residents of the village will be controlled by AI and blockchain technology, Fast Company reports.
Blockchain-based time bank will take into account the hours that residents spend for volunteer work (cleaning in the garden, teaching yoga or elderly care) and convert these hours into discounts for common areas maintenance payments (garden, swimming pool, gym).
Plan is to make Almere fully independent from central power grids and entire infrastructure, including water supply, recycling centers and farms will be connected to an AI system.
Village residents are encouraged to use public transportation or bicycles as no infrastructure for cars is planned to be implemented.
ReGen will consist of 203 houses within the price range from 200.000 EUR to 850.000 EUR and if the local administration approves the project, construction will begin quite soon, in 2019.
